Metal Tooth Crowns
Metal crowns are made from gold or silver colored alloys. This type of dental crown does not blend in with your natural teeth however these caps are durable and long lasting.

What to Expect Before a Dental Crown Procedure
First, schedule your exam and evaluation with Riverside Cosmetic Dentist – Dr. Ali Shmara.
Dr. Ali Shmara will examine your tooth and discuss your bite, your gum tissue, and your crown options.
Once you determine which dental crown is the best fit for you, Dr. Ali Shmara will shape and prepare your tooth to make space for the crown to fit properly.
What to Expect During the Dental Crown Procedure
The first step during the dental crown procedure is local anesthesia.
Before Dr. Ali Shmara installs your permanent dental crown, you will receive a temporary crown to protect your prepared tooth.
Once your permanent crown has been created, Dr. Ali Shmara will assess the fit and appearance of the dental crown before permanently cementing it.
What to Expect After the Dental Crown Procedure
The recovery process after a dental crown procedure is a few days.
Your teeth will most likely feel different after the procedure but this is normal and your tooth should feel natural after a few days. Your dental crown should function like a healthy tooth.
Dr. Ali Shmara recommends that you avoid biting hard surfaces to prevent the crown from cracking.
If I get tooth crowns, do I require crown lengthening?
In some cases, crown lengthening might be required during the dental crown procedure. Dr. Ali Shmara might recommend crown lengthening if the visible part of your tooth does not have sufficient space for the dental crown installation.
What is crown lengthening?
Crown lengthening is the process of shaving down your tooth bone in order to release more of your tooth beyond the gum.
